And so it began! For many years I’ve debated loc-ing my hair & today, November 19, 2020 I finally did it! My hair journey thus far has been an interesting one! As a kid, my mom kept my hair nice in ponytails. As a teen I mainly wore iron outs & roller wraps. In high school I went to cosmetology school & at one point relaxed my hair after getting it bleached & it all fell out! I rocked a short hairstyle by the one & only Stephon O’Neal! As an adult I pretty much kept things simple cutting it, getting color or wearing braids.
For at least two years I’ve been researching styles, methods & how I wanted to start my locs. Knowing I’d not be comfortable with the beginning stage (the birds nest as my cousin calls it) I knew I wanted to wait til fall when I could wear hats & scarves! Finally I took the plunge & was ready to get it loc’d.
I’ve known Creesha @unlimitedstylesbycresha for at least 20 years or more and I knew that when I locked my hair she would be the one to do it. Back in March I got color for the first time in a very long time and it had grew out about 4-5 inches so it was beginning to ombre. Together we decided on triangular parts opposed to square and a small to medium size loc’s with the coil method. From start to finish it took about 4 hours getting a wash, twist, dry & clip. Surprisingly I am very pleased with my hair I know it will take some getting used to but I am ready for this new journey.
Thanks for coming along!
